FAQs

How do I get paid?

You'll be paid by Airbnb directly, 24 hours after your guest checks-in. We take our management fee the following Wednesday.

How am I charged for your services?

When a guest books a stay via Airbnb they’ll pay a nightly fee in addition to a set cleaning fee. The entire amount is transferred to your bank account by Airbnb.

Houst will then charge you a commission on that total, and debit you for the cost of the cleaning fee too (in order to pass on to our suppliers and housekeepers).

Whilst you’re technically charged for each clean, it’s important to bear in mind that your guest has paid for this.

Do you screen guests?

Our Guest Experience Team have now managed over 250,000 bookings. They’re trained to spot red flags, and will always prioritise security over occupancy. We’d never take a risk with your property, even if that means saying no to some bookings. All guests must have a verified profile and be able to provide us with details about their trip.

Do you provide linens and towels?

We provide hotel-quality linen and towels at every clean. Each delivery will include:

  • bed sheets
  • pillow cases
  • hand towels
  • bath towels
  • a bath mat
  • a tea towel

We can also replenish toiletries and cleaning supplies. You will need to provide duvets, mattresses and pillows for each bed.

Do I need to completely move out?

We only let full properties, not bedrooms. But that doesn’t mean you need to move your possessions out! So long as there’s some space for guests to leave their own things - that’s all we ask.

It’s your home, so feel free to use it as often and however you want. Simply close your calendar on the Houst dashboard.

What if I need to arrange maintenance?

We have a dedicated maintenance team that works with several contractors. Pricing varies depending on the nature of the task. We can arrange smaller jobs without contacting you, but it’s important to discuss a maximum spend limit with your Account Manager. Any task quoted over the limit will require your approval.

Is my home insured?

The Airbnb Host Guarantee covers all hosts up to $1 million USD. Minor claims, such as stains, can be claimed for via the Airbnb Resolution Centre.

We have free, separate insurance in place with Guardhog for non-Airbnb platforms. A deposit is also held for smaller issues.

How do guests collect keys?

We set up a lockbox for every property. Choose between the wall-mounted lockbox (attached to the exterior of properties) or the railing lockbox (attached to a nearby railing). We’ll then create a lockbox guide for your guests.

What will I need to do once I’ve signed?

Once you’re ready to get going, we’ll organise an onboard meeting at your property. Ahead of the onboard meeting please ensure your property is clean and tidy. You’ll also need to provide us with three sets of keys for a one-bed, or four sets of keys for anything larger.
